Di pentaerythritol (DIPEN) isan odourlesswhite crystalline material taking the form of a light powder or, in micronized form, white or off-white granules. A dimer of pentaerythritol, it is a polyhydric alcohol containing six primary hydroxyl groups. It is soluble in water, alcohol and most other organic liquids.
Di pentaerythritol is produced by the dehydration condensation of pentaerythritol in the presence of an acid catalyst.

Applications of Di Pentaerythritol
Di pentaerythritol is employed as a chemical intermediate in the manufacture of alkyd resins, polymers and oligomers and in a wide range of other products including radiation-curing monomers and rosin esters.
It is an important material in a range of environmentally-friendly applications; it is used in flame retardants, acrylic monomers for UV curing systems and is formulated in paints, coatings, lacquers and PVC stabilizers.
Di pentaerythritol is also used in synthetic lubricants such as the heat-resistant types utilised in aircraft gas turbines and refrigeration machines, in cosmetics and hygiene products, and in detergents as a softening agent.
Storage and Handling
Di pentaerythritol should be stored in a tightly-closed container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from strong oxidizing agents.
The material should be handled in accordance with good industry safety and hygiene practices. Relevant engineering controls including appropriate exhaust ventilation should be implemented to prevent dust formation. Normal measures for fire prevention should be observed. The product may cause irritation to the respiratory tract, eyes and skin. Personal protective equipment such as protective gloves, glasses and respiratory protection should be worn.
